Trocaire College seeks qualified students who are able to benefit from the educational opportunities available at the College. Applicants are reviewed holistically, where experience, academic metrics, and personal attributes are all considered in the admission review. Qualified students are admitted without regard to actual or perceived, race, color, creed, religion, religious practice, national origin, ethnic group, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, political affiliation, age, marital status, military status, veteran status, disability, domestic violence victim status, genetic information, or any other basis prohibited by New York State and/or federal non-discrimination laws.
General College Admission Requirements
Candidates for admission to the College must meet one of the criteria below:
A high school graduate from an approved secondary school with a minimum of sixteen credit units and 75% CGPA; or
Official evidence of an equivalent degree with a 2500 minimum GED score; or
Evidence of being on track to complete an Equivalency Diploma as outlined by the New York State Guidelines for Equivalency Diploma or based on earned College credit. Candidates who have completed an approved homeschool program are also eligible for admission. Written documentation of this completion must be provided from the collaborating public school district attesting to the candidate’s completion of a program of home instruction which meets the requirements set forth in the Requirements of the Commissioner of Education and the Rules of the Board of Regents.
Course Placement
Prospective students will be reviewed for course placement based on competency levels in reading, writing, and mathematics based on the criteria below:
Placement Exemption Criteria
Students who meet any of the following criteria will be exempt from developmental coursework:
Exemption from Mathematics Developmental Coursework
SAT Math score of 500 or above
ACT Math score of 18 or above
High School Algebra with a “C” grade or above
College level Math transfer credit with a “C” grade or above
Exemption from Reading Developmental Coursework
SAT Verbal score of 500 or above
ACT Reading score of 20 or above
High School English or History score of 80 or above
College level English transfer credit with a “C” grade or above
Exemption from Sentence Skills Developmental Coursework
SAT Critical Reading Score of 500 or above
ACT English score of 18 or above
High School English score of 80 or above
College level English transfer credit with a “C” grade or above
Developmental Courses
Students placed into two or more of the following developmental courses will be required to take GS102 College Success whose course topics include Academic Success, Career Exploration, and Life Skills:. EN095, EN099, MA099, BIO105.

Transcripts
Official transcripts of academic work completed both in high school and in all post-secondary institutions are required before an applicant’s admission is complete.
Residency Requirement
Students must complete a minimum of 25% of their program course work at Trocaire College to be eligible to earn a degree or certificate.
Application Procedure
Complete the electronic application. There is no application fee.
All students filing for any type of state of federal aid (including loans) are required to submit a final high school transcript or GED before any funds can be disbursed to the student.

Only documents received directly from another school/institution will be considered official. Student submitted documents will be considered unofficial.Freshmen
All freshmen students are required to request an official high school transcript. Transcripts should be sent to the Trocaire Admissions Office.
Acceptance into Trocaire College requires that the high school diploma is a regular high school diploma (e.g. In NYS that includes local diploma, Regents diploma, and Regents diploma with advanced designation. NOTE that an IEP diploma (ended July 1, 2013) and the Skills and Achievement Commencement Credential are not considered a regular diploma). Also, if the individual is a resident of the state where the high school is located, then that state has jurisdiction over the individual’s high school completion.
The Board of Regents does not approve correspondence study, including online, as equivalent to a high school diploma for New York State residents.Students who did not complete four years of high school have the following high school equivalency (HSE) options:
Home-schooled students must submit a letter from the superintendent of the school district in which the student resides, attesting to the student’s completion of a program of home instruction that is the substantial equivalent of a four-year high school course. Most high schools will provide this statement. This is typically a two-sentence letter from the school district requested by the family.
High School Equivalency Diploma; a passing score on the general comprehensive examination for the state high school equivalency diploma (GED/TASC) and the diploma itself if the student is eligible to receive one. See academic program specific requirements for the required GED score minimum to enter the program.
Successful completion as verified by the degree-granting institution of 24 semester hours as a recognized candidate for a college-level degree distributed in accordance with 8 NYCRR Section 3.47(a)(2)(ii)(d)
Official verification of having earned a degree (Associate or Bachelor) from an accredited college or university.
Evidence of having passed five Regents examinations in the subjects listed in 8 NYCRR Section 3.47(a)(2)(ii)(f).
Freshmen applicant results from the SAT and/or ACT are optional for admission and scholarship consideration.
Transfer applicants
Transfer applicants request official transcripts from ALL attended colleges and universities be sent to the Trocaire Admissions Office – See #3 under Application Procedures.

Students should speak to an Admissions Counselor or to a Program Director prior to registration to ensure they understand the academic requirements and technical standards required for advancement in the program of their choice.All students without a conferred degree will be evaluated for course placement based on the criteria found under the course placement and placement exemption criteria above.
Application Decision
Trocaire maintains a rolling admissions policy, and thus, applications are processed throughout the calendar year. The nursing program has a preferred application deadline as outlined in the Nursing program specific admissions requirements.
Students will be notified of their application status after all of the admission requirements have been completed and a decision has been made. Applicants are responsible for confirming all forms are completed and forwarded to Info@Trocaire.edu. Applications and all supporting credentials become the property of Trocaire College and will not be returned to the applicant.
High school juniors and seniors interested in taking courses as a non-matriculated students should refer to the College website - www.Trocaire.edu
Applicants who falsify information on their admissions application will be immediately expelled from the College.
Readmission Process
Students who have not been enrolled at Trocaire College for two or more semesters (excluding summer) or have attended another college and wish to return to continue their education at Trocaire, must apply for re-admission.
Reapplication Process
Students who have applied to the College and reapply must complete an admissions application. All new transcripts since original application are required for students who reapply.
Student Status
Matriculated student: A matriculated student has filed an application for a degree or certificate program, has been officially accepted, and has course registration for the specific term in which the student has been accepted. Matriculated status is terminated by graduation, withdrawal, or dismissal. Matriculated students may attend on a full-time or part-time basis.
Non-matriculated student: A non-matriculated student is enrolled in a maximum of two unique credit bearing courses but has not been admitted to a degree or certificate program within the College.
Classification of Students
Full-time students who carry a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester.
Part-time students who carry fewer than 12 credit hours per semester.
